    This Dye Gives Me Life
    Review by Lizon 2/15/2018
I have resistant hair to dye for no particular reason other than the universe hates me (and I'm a brunette). This was THE ONLY thing that has worked. It's a nice subtle red that doesn't scream "hi I'm going through a rough time." More of a faint whisper. I started with a drunken ombre but liked it so much I dyed the rest! Plus it didn't look like garbage for doing it over a week after dyeing the ends, more points for putting up with my impulsivity.
My only complaint is my sister got Vampire Kiss which smells like cherries, and I got Infra Red which smells like Vampire's breath. It isn't too strong though and goes away quickly, so not a big deal.

    Color was like brown
    Review by Echoon 1/4/2018
I bleached my naturally dark brown hair to a golden, red-ish blonde color and applied 4 different colors on my hair, one of which was Purple Haze. After washing it out, it wasn't purple at all! It was more of an extremely dark burgundy brown. It didn't and still doesn't look like purple and it has been about 1 month, more or less. Loved the fact that it was vegan and doesn't change the texture of my hair.

    Response from Team Manic Panic:
Thank you for sending the pictures, we see why the colors did not show up very well for you. In order for Manic Panic hair dye to properly work and show up correctly, you need to be able to lift/bleach your hair to a level 9 or 10 platinum blonde. (please see chart on our FAQ page - manicpanic.com/faqs)
As you can see, your hair was only bleached somewhere between a 5 and a 6 - much too dark for the colors to show up properly.
Think of hair dye like ink in a marker, and think of your hair as a piece of paper. I you write on a white piece of paper with a blue marker, the ink will show up blue - with a purple marker, the ink will show up purple. If you try to write on a yellow piece of paper with a blue marker, the ink will show up green - with a purple marker - the ink will show up a muddy brown purple. If you try to write on a dark orange piece of paper (like your hair) with a blue marker, it will show up a dark muddy green - with a purple marker, a dark muddy brown. Warmer tones, like reds, oranges, & dark pinks will show up better on hair that is not bleached very light because the base colors are similar - they are in the same range of color. If you try and use cool tones, you are basically mixing all 3 primary colors together, and that will always give you brown.
In the future, since you have such dark hair naturally, you will probably need to attempt more than one bleaching process to try and get your hair lighter if you would like to use blues and purples. You may want to consult a professional stylist to get this done so that you do not damage your hair attempting to do it yourself.
We would suggest sticking with the dark reds and pinks, like Vampire Red & Fuschia Shock or Hot Hot Pink.

    Holy cats, this is awesome
    Review by sarahlynon 12/27/2017
Ok, so I always wanted colorful underlights in my hair. Originally, I went to my high-end salon to get purple underlights, and they were GREAT! But super pricey. They faded in about 3-4 weeks, so I decided to try to do it myself for a more cost-effective result. Did Manic Panic ever deliver! This was my first time attempting to dye my own hair. I used Purple Haze and let it sit for about 2 hours. It turned out AWESOME. I have great, dark purple highlights. They are darker and more vibrant than the salon version - I am hoping that as it fades, it goes through some other cool shades! Super easy to use and inexpensive enough that I can afford to do it myself once it fades in a month or so. Thank you MP for fulfilling a lifelong dream! :-)

    Best value vibrants!
    Review by Sarahon 6/7/2017
I have been using manic panic colors on and off since I was a teen. The colors are vibrant and fun.I usually leave the color on wayyyy past the recommended time (I hardly ever color all the way to the root, so no scalp staining issues) and get really long lasting results and super soft hair. I currently have an oil slick look created with manic panic colors and my natural color. I lightened the ends for an ombre look leaving a good few inches of my natural light red/brown at the root and After Midnight, Deep Purple Dream and Violet Night, also leaving some of the level 7-8 areas uncolored. It came out great and is fading beautifully. The blue did not really take on the darker areas of the ombre but it still blended nicely. I have just ordered some pink & yellow to incorporate on my next color, wish we could share pics!

If you are looking for something without having to bleach your hair, this is a product to use. I have extremely dark brown hair but used the rock n roll red without bleaching my hair first and I still came out with a cool looking red hue to my hair and I just did the bottoms.

    Review by Paigeon 12/13/2016
This is the second dye I've bought from manic panic, and I like the dye and the quality, I just wanted to leave a warning to other dyers the Venus Envy comes out teal. While I love the dye, I'm frustrated that it's supposed to be green but is super blue, with more blue tones than even the enchanted forest picture.

    Raven to red
    Review by Oliveoylon 11/22/2016
I have used Manic Panic before (hot pink) and loved it. I wanted my hair to be black for Hallloween so I got Raven creme. My hair is mostly white with some brown. I didn't follow all the special instructions, I had dry clean hair, put it on till frothy, covered with Press and Seal, and blew hair dryer on it most of the half an hour that I kept wrapped up. I tried to rinse in just cold water, but finally ended up taking a warm shower to get it all rinsed out. It was very black till I washed it 2 days later and slowly over a 3-4 days, it turned red and fading to reddish/pink after 3 weeks. I am so glad it didn't turn green as others have had, I love the red/pink! I am not sure if it is cause my hair is mostly white naturally or why.

    Review by Katon 11/20/2016
I have been bleaching and dying my hair using manic panic products for a year and these are the best formula i have used, they lat me around 2 weeks with washing my hair every 3 days and i find if you put a little bit of the colour into your conditioner you can get a good month out of the colour. I had no problems with staining but the voodoo blue i did find that like most blues it stays in your hair for A LOT longer and is harder to remove.

Love the colors and the quality!
    Review by Byllie Joon 9/23/2016
So I have recently decided that after having natural colors in my hair, that I would take the plunge and bleach my hair. I made a mistake and used splat. My hair stylist recommended that I use something like Manic Panic to cover it up. I purchased Rockabilly blue. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the color and what it faded to after a few washes. What I didn't like was the fact that it stained everything horribly. I went through a whole container of makeup wipes in a week wiping blue off of my neck. I had to sleep with towels over my pillows so it wouldn't stain them. Other than the staining, the color has treated me well.
Manic Panic has always treated me well and I will continue to use it for many years.

    Review by Annieon 7/8/2016
I dyed my hair at the end of April and it's now mid-July. A very faint dusty blue/lavender color with a bit of pink still remains, with the bleached blonde roots sticking out the ends. Very pastel "punk rock" is what it looks like now. This is the purple you want if you don't want to do your hair every three weeks. I have ash blonde hair, and this color has true staying power. I'm planning on doing a bleach bath to strip some of it out so I can start again. But I truly love the purple shades, so this is a keeper. I really enjoy the fading process, not patchy or strange. My hair is still pretty soft, too. Not fried, since I did the 30 volume process with the bleach kit. My hair is in pretty good condition, overall.

    nice dye for the price
    Review by aNGEL Bon 7/3/2016
I dyed my hair electric lizard and voodoo blue. the blue turned out awesome and so did the electric lizard but the electric lizard kind of turned out with a yellow-ish tint to it. last time I dyed my hair hot pink and cobalt blur from joico color intensity and it turned out nice, but it only stayed in for a week, this stays in much longer. And my mom(who is a cosmologist)said that manic panic is much easier to use and you only have to use a little bit, not even the full container of dye to achieve the color vibrancy! Overall, this is an awesome dye for the price.

    Review by Kuppeyon 6/20/2016
I dyed my hair with this insanely pigmented dye when my hair was basically white and 3 months later decided that i wanted to go purple so I started trying to remove it with vitamin c and bleach and it would NOT come out. it did fade to a super duper pretty pastel pink though. So if you need long long lasting Vibrant medium true red with slight pink undertones this is the one.

Long lasting color...will not go away.
    Review by Laurenon 6/7/2016
I dyed my hair in january an ombre of turquoise, dark blue and purple. By april it had faded to a pastel which i didnt mind. I went to the salon to get my hair back to blonde for a wedding i was in....and it wouldnt come out! She put bleach on it, she tried to tone it, numerous stylists tried to figure out how to get the dye out. It just would not leave my hair! There is still some hidden in my hair somewhere, it was a 2 day process, they had to dye it darker than what i wanted and then try and highlight crossing their fingers that the blue wouldnt come back when they bleached it.
So if you want it to stay for a long time, by all means buy this product.

    Review by Lexon 4/25/2016
I've tried an array of different dyes on my hair over the 2yrs I've been doing unnatural colors and I always come right back to Manic. I've found that different colors stay better than others in my hair, though. I'll review all the ones I can remember trying :P

    Favorites:
Atomic Turquoise is without a doubt the color that stays the best in my hair. I've been putting Voodoo Blue in for awhile as well to add depth and it seems to bleed out pretty fast but fades the nicest out of all the blues I've used.
I used Siren Song over the turquoise with the hope of it being brighter but its not a very deep color so it ended up just toning the blue to be more green so be mindful of what color your hair is when using Siren Song
Hot Hot Pink is definitely my other favorite. It stayed rly well in my hair and faded to an adorable soft pink that was still very vibrant. It also went really well over Ultra Violet to create this gorgeous pink glow to the purple I had while I was transitioning colors. I also used Pillarbox Red to tone the pink to a deeper shade, but when I had bright red (i didnt use a manic brand dye that time) I found it wasnt as bright as I'd expected.

    Unsuccessful Colors for my hair:
Lie Locks washed right out of my hair and would not stay in. Ultra Violet and Electric Amethyst also didn't stay in very well, but I found if I mixed Atomic Turquoise and Hot Hot Pink I got the purple I wanted and it didnt fade.
Midnight Blue was rly great for mixing in with purples and to darken up pinks when I was playing with various shades, but if you want a really strong and vibrant color I don't recommend Midnight Blue as it's much more muted.

Overall Manic dyes handle being mixed really well, and I've enjoyed every color I've tried regardless if they faded fast or not. I recommend it to everyone I know because it's easy to use, and you get a really nice amount of a quality product for a great price. I've used Pravana, Ion, and Clairol professional dyes and nothing has compared to Manic. You just gotta figure out what stays best in your hair!

    Review by great oneon 4/21/2016
I have wanted silver hair for awhile, I did my research had it bleached out at the salon, had it first dyed grey at the salon, but with any grey/silver combo it fades fast. I used the steel blue and mixed it with my deep hair conditioner mask, let sit for 35 minutes and my hair is amazing, the color, the texture is wonderful. I have a short undercut now and 1 bottle will give me at least 4 dye jobs, I cant say enough good things about this and amazed at the shade I got. If you are even thinking about going silver/grey-DO IT with manic panic steel blue you wont regret !!!

    Review by skyleron 4/21/2016
i've been using manic panic for roughly 2 years and i love it. i've used quite a few colors, so i'll review each briefly!
    -atomic turquoise
this is a very nice light-but-bright blue, i really enjoyed this color and it pairs very nicely with almost anything. it faded nicely into a powder blue.

    -hot hot pink
i love this color, but unfortunately, it faded very fast when i used it. i had a blue/magenta ombre with hot hot pink on the ends but i eventually started dying it all blue because the pink would just fade too fast.

    -voodoo blue
this is probably my favorite manic panic dye. i used it over very, VERY faded atomic turquoise and it was a vibrant electric blue with various shades in it like teal, darker blue, and lighter blue (but not in a messy way haha)

-electric lizard (mixed the entire tub with a dollop of voodoo blue, created a VERY bright leprechaun green)
i've never used electric lizard by itself but if you're looking for a vibrant cool-toned green shade, i mixed the entire tub with voodoo blue until the dye itself looked like a very dark forest green. took forever to fade

    -rockabilly blue
this shade is a nice royal blue but it seemed to fade pretty fast when i used it

    -enchanted forest
if you're looking for something strictly GREEN, i wouldn't recommend this. it's a very rich, dark teal and it looks amazing in sunlight

    -fuschia shock
this is such a nice colorful shade. depending on how light your hair is, it may either be a bright pink or a deep maroon/magenta. when mine faded, it started turning orangey/yellow in some spots which was unflattering, but it lasts quite a while without needing to be redyed.

    -virgin snow
let me start by saying i had never toned my hair before! this could very well be user error. anyways, i lightened my hair to about level 9 and left virgin snow on for about an hour and thirty minutes. nothing happened (again, probably user error haha)

    Very safe and amazing!
    Review by Jennyon 4/17/2016
My 11 year old daughter begged me to let her dye her hair purple. I thought that letting her use these chemicals at such a young age was not a good idea, but she said that she would pay for it and deal with the consequences if she did not like the color. I contacted my doctor and he said that I should let her try new things. He suggested the brand Manic Panic for my daughter. This brand is vegan based, so it has no harsh chemicals like ammonia and peroxide. These dyes are just colored conditioners that sit on your hair and don't actually soak into your scalp. If you are a mother and you are looking for a safe dye for your child, I encourage you to let him/her dye their hair with Manic Panic. Good luck dying your hair!

    Review by QueenGeorgeon 2/17/2016
Since I've started dying my hair crazy colors, my cousin recommended that I try Manic Panic. The first time I loved it, the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth time I loved it. It conditions my hair after a stripping bleach and leaves me with great color.

I've used after midnight, electric lava, cotton candy pink, voodoo blue, purple haze, electric amethyst, virgin snow, and blue steel. Most of the brighter colors work great, though cotton candy pink faded fairly quickly and virgin snow didn't do much. I used blue steel more recently, and it's a great color but it didn't take to some parts of my hair, but that's partly my fault because there color is great for most of my head.

Overall Tish and Snooky are selling a great product that comes in an array of colors you won't find in other brands nor with nearly as good quality. Though I've had my mishaps with some other the lighter colors, I will always return to Manic panic because their quality compares to no one else.
